As we begin our Hurley Travels blog, we have been "fulltimers" for approximately three years. We didn't have any RVing experience at all when we decided to sell our stick house and make our home on the road in our 32' Sunnybrook 5th wheel. Some of our family and friends said they were envious but many thought we were completely bonkers!
Since that time we have had many fantastic experiences. We've learned to "boondock" using our solar system, parking our rig in some of the most scenic spots you could imagine. We've gained many new friends from all over the U. S. and Canada. And along the line we became obsessed with our new hobby of 4wheeling. Among the many cherished experiences are the volunteering jobs we've found. Our first year was highlighted by the four months volunteering at the Bosque del Apache Wildlife Refuge. The first photo at the left is of the Sandhill Cranes feeding on the corn grown especially for them at the refuge. 12,000 cranes make their home at the refuge each winter, just south of Socorro, NM.
In 2005 we assisted in disaster relief after Hurricane Katrina in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. The destruction was unbelievable but is was rewarding to be able to provide some help to a few! (Second photo)
And for the summer of 2006 our wheels carried us to the splendor of Green River Lake in the Bridger-Teton National Forest near Pinedale, Wyoming. Square Top Mountain in the Wind River Range provides the gorgeous backdrop in the third photo.
In the spring of 2006 we had an exciting time in the Mecca of 4wheeling, Moab, Utah. Here we are on one of the trails enjoying an "extra credit" piece called "The Golden Crack."
